HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE
PRE-PREP
Sports Day Celebration
Pre Prep hosted its annual Sports Day, a much-anticipated event that brought together students, staff, and families for an afternoon of fun, competition, and community spirit.
The competitions kicked off with traditional races, followed by field events such as long jump and throwing. Throughout the afternoon, the ice cream van provided delicious snacks and drinks, ensuring everyone stayed energised and hydrated.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony. Medals were presented to the children, recognising their hard work and dedication.
Sports Day 2024 was not just about competition; it was a celebration of our school spirit, unity, and the joy of participating in sports. It reinforced the importance of physical activity and the positive impact it has on our well-being. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Storey for organising this unforgettable day.
We look forward to another exciting Sports Day next year!

A Message from Mr. Cook – Ski Trip 2024/25 Courmayeur, Pila (Italy)
Saturday 8th – Saturday 15th February 2025 (the week before half term).
Last call to make the trip viable for 2025
Presently I have around 14 children and adults interested in joining the 2025 Ski Party and ideally would like to have a group of at least 35.
I am hoping to have a greater contingent of unaccompanied students this year, now the restrictions due to COVID are behind us, so that it gives them an opportunity to develop greater independence – managing their own possessions and organisation, obviously, with the guidance and support of the staff involved. In the past we have had a group of students sharing rooms of 3 or 4, which is a great learning experience for them to look after their possessions and each other.
The cost of the trip tbc once I know numbers interested, usually around £1135, and includes the following;
- Half board hotel accommodation – all rooms with private facilities
- Hot lunches at a choice of mountain restaurants
- Return travel by luxury coach or flights if we decide to explore Andorra
- Insurance
- Hire of boots and carving skis
- Ski lessons taught by mainly British instructors plus badges and certificates
- Lift pass
- Breakfast en route to and from resort
- All apres-ski activities.
- An additional £60 pocket money (converted to euros for use in Italy), can be added to any unaccompanied child’s cost, so they do not have to look after the money themselves and it can be given out daily.
Anyone interested in signing up their child(ren) or family group, for 2024-25 Ski Trip, could contact me at school or via email to arrange a telephone call for more details, if required.
Places on the trip will be allocated on a first come-first served basis. If you require further information at this stage, please do not hesitate to contact me here at school or, indeed, talk to one of the children or parents who have been before. You may also wish to borrow the Interski DVD, which gives you a real feel for all that the package includes or visit their website.
Once I have an idea of numbers I will confirm a booking and would then suggest that a payment of £250 is made (£150 non-refundable deposit per person + £100 first instalment). We will then set up a monthly payment scheme of £150 per person, through School Money, so that you are not faced with a large amount to find either side of Christmas. Thus, it should then be paid off by February 2025 ready for the trip.
You could download the Interski Brochure from their website if you wished further information.

Yours sincerely,
P.W. Cook (Ski Party Leader)
Year 7 & 8 Public Speaking Competition
‘Thank A Teacher’
Not content with simply having guided Wellow’s first cohort of Year 11’s through their final year of KS4 and through their final set of public examinations; in their absence, Mr Whittaker has this week turned his attentions to encouraging Wellow students to reflect on their year and the teaching staff/support staff who have helped guide them through this academic year.
Students have been, and will continue to be given the opportunity to write small notes of appreciation on ‘Thank A Teacher’ cards, and deliver these to staff to share their gratitude – many staff have been very happy recipients, and this shows that a small gesture can have a huge impact; especially when staff at Wellow work so hard to nurture, support and guide students.
If your child has not yet had the opportunity to complete a card, but would like to participate, they can either ask their form tutor, or create their very own card at home!
Thanks, Mr. W!
