HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE

PRE-PREP

“Luna and the Skyrocket” Prep Presentation Rehearsals

Rehearsals are in full swing and the stage is up! Thank you in advance for your help with costumes and to the children who have offered to make props. Please can these be brought into school by Monday 24th June in a named carrier bag?   

Putting on a school production is so much more than merely acting and singing. The teamwork, resilience, determination and self confidence the children have demonstrated has been wonderful to witness. The children have all supported each other and understand that each of them plays a vital role in the team, no matter what their part in the play.  We are looking forward to sharing their brilliance with you!  

A huge continued thanks to Ms. Kollati, Mrs. Bambridge, Mrs. Hill, Miss Cook and Miss Wood for their hard work in planning, running, directing and facilitating these sessions!

More LAMDA celebrations!

Fresh in! Congratulations to Edward (Y3) and Phoebe (Y5) for achieving DISTINCTION in their May LAMDA examinations, and continuing the long line of students contributing to the 100% DISNTINCTION exam record of Wellow House School.

D-Day

Students in Year 6 have been studying D-Day and the significance of the 80th anniversary of the event with Mr O’Kane. As part of their exploration, they have produced posters, which proudly adorn the windows and walls of the Year 6 classroom!

Bug Hotels!

Alea (Y4), Adam and Alfie (Y3) all proudly displayed their Bug Hotels in Reception this week! What fantastic creations they are!

They now take pride of place around the school grounds to serve their purpose for the insect community of Wellow!

Y9 Halifax Bomber Memorial

Farewell to Year 11 – End of GCSE Examinations

Years 7-10 formed a Guard of Honour to both congratulate and bid a fond farewell to the 2024 Year 11 cohort upon completion of their last GCSE examination this afternoon.

Year 11 students celebrated with a buffet and music in the Dining Room before a shirt signing ceremony with students and staff.

A huge congratulations to all students for demonstrating resilience and hard work through the last couple of months!

An extra thank you to Mr. Whittaker and Mrs. Barber for organising this afternoon’s events, and for all their hard work and support with Year 11!

Well done to all our wonderful Y11 students who finished their GCSE exams this week! It’s been a tough exam season with many of our students having 20-25 exams to sit.  

After the exams finished today, we had a little surprise party for them and our Y7-Y10 students made a guard of honour to celebrate their hard work. Y11 really enjoyed refreshments, receiving a card from staff and having their shirts signed.          

We are all so proud of you, Y11 and we are looking forward to Alton Towers on Monday for a well-deserved fun day out!
