HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE

Cresswell Crags

The children in Pre-School had a wonderful school trip today. We started with a gentle stroll around Creswell Crags and enjoyed a picnic before heading to the Coloured Cob Equestrian Centre in Creswell. The children groomed ponies, went on a trek, and were lucky to receive a rosette. The day was filled with fun and laughter, giving the children an amazing experience.

Y3 Volcano Experiment

On Friday afternoon, Year 3 gathered on the grass outside of their classroom to carry out an erupting volcano experiment!

Y7 Trip to Lincoln Cathedral

Year 7 enjoyed a very enthralling day at Lincoln Cathedral and Castle on Thursday, going on pilgrimage, creating drama about the Magna Carta and walking the medieval castle walls.

Senior Careers Morning

On Thursday 27th June our Seniors have had a great careers event! Students had had the opportunity to do a range of activities including: play ‘Guess the careers’ game; research various careers using their Morrisby account; study skills session;
take part in a careers shortlisting activity and looked at what makes a great CV.
All the seniors had a fun team building session outside on the lawn.
 

Year 9 and 10 students looked at post 16 options and enjoyed a talk via Teams from a student ambassador at York University to talk about university life, which the students found very useful. Mrs Orger then gave a very interesting talk about her experience of working in the TV and Film industry and this helped give our students some ideas about future careers.
 

One of our Y10 students, Isabella said: “I think doing the careers day was helpful and I enjoyed looking at all the paths available to us including A levels, T levels and apprenticeships so that we have an idea of what options we have next year. The team building session was fun and helped me realise how important good communication, persevering and working together as a team is for my future career.” 

Thank you to all the students for participating so well in all the activities and to the staff and guest speakers for making it an enjoyable morning!

Senior Drama Club Performance – “Harry Rings: Lord of the Potters”

In sweltering heat, senior actors from Years 7-9 performed in “Harry Rings: Lord of the Potters” on Wednesday evening. Penny (Y8), Lola (Y9) and Kiera-Mae (Y7) took on hobbit roles from the Shire, and Effemie (Y7), Arya (Y7) and Riva (Y7) were their counterparts in Hogwash School! Jasper (Y8) was a superb evil genius and Lyla (Y7) and Harry C (Y7) had costume changes aplenty, notably for the entertaining Gladys and Sharon. The audience fully appreciated the good humour, bad wigs and the intensity of the stage fighting! 

I was very proud of the commitment demonstrated by every member of the cast. Congratulations on a fantastic performance!

Monday saw students in Prep and Senior compete in their houses (Rufford, Thoresby and Clumber) in a variety of sporting events, in the hopes of being awarded the winning House!
