Wellow Weekly 10th May 2024

HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE

Another glorious week at Wellow! We finally had some sustained sunshine and it was wonderful to see the children accessing the grounds for work and play.

Our Seniors have now started their extensive GCSE exam program with Pre-Prep and Prep continuing to work diligently.
Have a lovely weekend.

PRE-PREP

African Art Display

Year One have completed their amazing African Art display!

Forest School

Year One enjoyed the sunshine during this week’s Forest School. They made a fire and cooked some eggy bread. Some of the children practised using the flint and steel and created some great sparks!

PREP

Microbit Step Counters

This week in Computer Science, Year 5 students programmed their Micro:bits to become step counters! We had lots of fun stomping around the classroom testing them out!

This has been the latest creation this half term, with students having already programmed Name Badges, Emotion Badges and experimented with different ways that they can use buttons and sensors such as the accelerometer and noise sensors to create different outputs!

Morrisby Careers

Year 8 have this week been given full access to the Morrisby Careers service, which will enable them to find their ideal pathways now and in the future. The students have been given login details in their daily diary/ planner and I’m sure they will be excited to share this platform with you! This login can also be used at home and is for life, so they can access this at any point in the future as long as they keep the login details safe.

Year 8 will continue looking at Morrisby at school in PSHE lessons. As they progress through school, they will have the opportunity to use this platform and access the wealth of materials available to them.

I hope you manage to have a look at this fantastic resource at home and enjoy thinking about some future career choices with your child. If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch either by dojo or email.

Kind regards,
Mrs. Barber

School Examination Week

Next week is our annual exam week, during which the students get used to sitting slightly longer, more formal tests than they do during the other terms. This is something to get them used to the process in their early Secondary years, so that it becomes familiar before they embark on their GCSE journey.

The exams will be spread out over the week, allowing for revision sessions, sports, etc. to take place as well.

Exam Timetables have been disseminated via ClassDojo for Years 7-9.

We wish students the very best of luck!
