PRE-PREP

Year 1 were resplendent in their costumes during this year’s World Book Day on Thursday!

PREP

Prep and Year 7/8 students arrived in costumes to listen to staff members read excerpts from their favourite books/books linked to their World Book Day characters.

Huge thanks to Mr. O’Kane for hosting and for his readings of ‘Lyttelton’s Britain’ and an intense encounter from a book about the Black Death – complete in his Christmas Truce soldier costume! Thanks also to Mrs Hill, Miss Wood and Mrs Cook for their fantastic readings of the ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, and to Mrs Ash for her reading of an extract of ‘The Final Year’ by Matt Goodfellow.

Well done to all Prep, Year 7 and 8 students who participated in the World Book Day festivities and donated money – your costumes were fantastic!

SENIOR

World Book Day sees Shrek in his own swamp on the Navigation Hike!

A remarkable amount of recent rain turning the viewing platform for this pond into… more pond!

8K together created a 21st century alternative to Shakespeare’s famous Sonnet 18.
They had to use 10 beats (5 iambs – dee dum, dee dum, dee dum, dee dum, dee dum rhythm!) per line to use the correct metre. They also had to contend with a tricky ABAB rhyme scheme until rhyming couplets in the last pairs of lines. Didn’t they do well?!

The mixed U13s football team narrowly lost 2-1 at St. Hugh’s after an excellent goal from Freddie, after a pinpoint corner from Danny. Well done to all on a cracking effort!
