Music Success at S. Anselm’s School!

With musical education in schools facing decline, Wellow House School is bucking the trend – and picking up awards as it progresses!

Following our very successful recent music examinations, six young pianists from Wellow House School travelled to the annual Piano Competition at S. Anselm’s school in Bakewell on 24th February and impressed the judges with their performances. Wellow pupils took first and second place in the Grade 1 competition, first place in the Grade 3 competition and third place in the Grade 4 competition. The competition was adjudicated by Ben Andrew,

Head of Keyboard at Stowe School, and Alec Hone, Head of Keyboard at Oundle School.

Last year, Adwin Gu (Year 4) won the Junior Cup for Outstanding Talent in the S. Anselm’s Piano Competition, and excelled again on Saturday by picking up the Grade 7 award.
Mr Mark Percival, Director of Music at S. Anselm’s School, said: ‘Many thanks to Ashley Williams, Head of Music at Wellow School, for organising and bringing all of those fine young pianists to the competition.’
